The project team welcomed partners from five countries—Egypt, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Tunisia—to lay the groundwork for advancing and scaling up agroforestry practices in the Mediterranean region and across Europe.
Through living labs, innovative agroforestry systems will be co-assessed with local and regional stakeholders to ensure they optimize agronomic, environmental, and production outcomes, while remaining both viable and socially acceptable. In addition, business models will be developed based on empirical evidence of economic performance, farmers’ willingness to adopt, and consumers’ willingness to pay. These will be complemented by capacity-building activities and expert decision-making tools designed to support practitioners in introducing agroforestry.
We wish the SCALARE consortium a successful project implementation.
