Become part of the team. We are looking for a new Postdoc or PhD researcher for our team.

Post-doc or Ph.D. position in Economics (f/m/d) (Economics of food / agro-food sector) 

on the Freising-Weihenstephan Campus, starting September 2024. Initial appointment will be 2 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L E13). 

The overall aim of the Chair group is to shape and contribute to fostering a transition to a fairer, healthier, more sustainable, and efficient agro-food system. 

Tasks 

The successful candidate is expected to: 

• Actively engage in research within the scope of the research areas of the Chair group, contributing excellent peer-reviewed journal publications. 

• Contribute to teaching activities of the Chair group and supervising theses of students at Bsc/MSc level 

• Contribute to the curricula development of the Chair group 

• Actively contributing to the application and acquisition of third-party funding (eg. EU-Horizon, BMBF,…) 

Qualifications 

• An excellent Master‘s level degree in economics, agricultural economics or related disciplines 

• Knowledge of quantitative approaches and experimental research 

• Strong motivation to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals 

• Fluency in written and spoken English 

• Knowledge of the German language is an advantage 

• Background or proven knowledge of the agricultural sector and food value chains is an advantage 

• Background or proven knowledge in nutrition or health-related issues is an advantage 

• Personal initiative, commitment, and an excellent team player

Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L). Horizon 2020 project "BATModel"

The overall goal of BATModel (Better Agri-food Trade Modelling for policy ANalysis) is to improve existing trade modelling tools and approaches with a focus on agriculture and food to support policy analysis. Our group focuses on the analysis of international trade effects related to Geographical Indications (GIs). This is a four-year project funded by the Horizon 2020 project of the European Union.

Project funded by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food

The project Development of an Information System for Geographical Indications focuses on the role of origin-based food labels for the German food crafts sector (e.g., bakers, butchers). The project is funded by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) and is carried out in collaboration with the private sector partner, Agromind (https://agromind.de/).
