Caucasus

A cooperation network with Georgian universities and research institutions began with a research stay by Dr. Tengiz Taktakishvili from Georgian National University at the Chair Group of Production and Resource Economics in the summer of 2017. In the long term, research and teaching projects as well as the exchange of staff and students with partners in the up-and-coming Caucasus republic will take place. All activities are united by the overarching issue of sustainable development in the Georgian agricultural sector, which is currently reliant on imports.

One year after Dr. Taktakishvili's visit, Professor Sauer and Philipp Mennig spent a week in Tbilisi, where they held a course at Georgian National University and established contacts with Tbilisi State University, the International Black Sea University and the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture in Georgia. Further research trips to expand and strengthen the network are currently planned.
