Jonathan Kirschner starts as PhD Student

We are very happy to welcome Jonathan Kirschner as a PhD student! 

Jonathan Kirschner studied Economics (B.Sc.) at LMU Munich and spent semesters abroad at Charles University in Prague and Venice International University. He completed his Master’s degree in Sustainable Resource Management (M.Sc.) at the Technical University of Munich, with a focus on climate policy and climate economics. He gained professional experience at the ifo Institute, as a research associate at the Munich School of Politics and Public Policy (HfP) at TUM, at GIZ, and in sustainability consulting with a focus on the energy transition. Furthermore, he represented TUM as a delegate at the UN Climate Change Conference COP28.

His research focuses on behavioral, climate, and environmental economics. A central interest lies in the dynamics between global policy instruments, climate science contexts, and their interaction with the local level. In particular, he examines the perception and public acceptance of climate and energy policy measures, as well as local self-efficacy and associated behavioral changes. In previous work, he investigated the impacts of natural disasters on voting behavior and analyzed climate clubs as an instrument of global climate governance.
